What does mascots of NBA teams stand for??

I know denver has a mountain lion, i guess that makes since. then san antonio has a jackrabbit, and seattle has a jack rabbit. they really dont add up to the state in my opinion. so can some1 explain the connection or any possible explanations. and feel free to add your states mascot and how you think it connects to your state or if it dos at all.

That's not a bad question, but I don't think they choose all the mascots based on state validity. The Indiana Pacers mascots are Boomer and Bowser and are a wacky cat and pup. That really has no connection to anything other than the fact that it gets the fans rooting for them. The kids like them, too. Mascots are probably just more random than anything!!!!!!

Actually, Seattle is bigfoot or sasquatch. They don't necessarily have to do anything with the region. Take for instance the Phoenix Gorilla. Since when have Gorrilla's been regional to Arizona. It's all about marketing.
The Kings have a lion. I think it's supposed to be "KING of the jungle". I don't know why it seems so many profesional teams either don't have a mascot or have one that has absolutely no connection to the team. The Suns have a gorilla...=I not sure how that was decided, because when I went to Phoenix last month I'm pretty sure there were not an abundant population of gorillas roaming the desert...
a jack rabbit in San Antonio? its a coyote.duh
